Mr Olympia results!

Mr Olympia results from this year, my apologies for the lateness.

With this years Mr Olympia shaping up to be one of the best, it definitely didn't disappoint. Unfortunately with Branch Warrens drop out due to injury, all eyes were all on Phil Heath and Jay Cutler this year as they battled it out to win the Sandow, $200,000, and the title of Mr Olympia.

Phil, as predicted, looked like a beast as soon as he stepped on stage. The size of this guy has labelled him 'cartoonish' and I can see why. He has a ridiculous physique and his muscles come alive when he is posing. It's no wonder that he took the title from Jay Cutler. With Phil being only 31 he still has many competitions ahead of him and he wants to take his physique to the next level. It's scary to think what he may look like in a few years and when he gets into his prime. There's no stopping this guy.

Jay came out on stage and you could tell he was off from last years size and condition that had him win the title four times. Stood at the side of Phil Heath doing their posing routines, you knew that Phil looked the best by far. I guess Jay just couldn't out do Phil this year, but he tried his best and was graceful in defeat giving a great speech and declaring Heath the 'new king.'

The battle between Phil and Jay overshadowed the rest of the competition in my eyes but Kai Greene came in third showing us all that he can still compete at the highest level with crazy size and muscle definition. Being third was definitely a step up for Kai who placed seventh last year. He promises to look even better next year.

Victor Martinez placed fourth with a much improved physique, with Dennis Wolf coming in close fifth and Dexter Jackson in sixth. All the competitors show great promise for the future of Body building

Look at the size on Phil..

2011 Olympia

The Olympia is a competition every professional bodybuilder wants to win and dreams of winning throughout their career. The Olympia is considered the highest accolade in the sport, and rightfully so.

The first Olympia was created by Joe Weider and was held on September 18th 1965. The Olympia is what made Arnold the man he is today after winning the competition seven times. I still believe that Arnold had the best body ever compared to the bodybuilders of today.

Jay Cutler currently holds the Mr. Olympia title and has won the Olympia four times in his career, I wonder if he can hold it for another year. I would have put doubt on it as I was sure that Branch Warren would take the title from him, but unfortunately Branch injured himself when he slipped trying to get into his car and had to drop out of the Olympia. Maybe Phil Heath or Kai Greene can take the title this year, if Kai gets his conditioning right he could be in for a chance. Phil is just a beast and I really think he's in for a chance this year after placing 3rd in 2008, 5th in 2009, and 2nd in 2010. Jay sure needs to look amazing to fight off the competition!

Who do you think will take this years Olympia? Good luck to all the competitors!

A great loss

Last month the bodybuilding world lost a great athlete. His name was Aziz Sergeyevich Shavershian, who was known to many as Zyzz. Many did not know of Zyzz but he was a legend on the likes of bodybuilding.com, and his progress to be the most aesthetic body in the world led to him becoming a roll model for many people.

It seems his life was just starting before he passed having developed his own protein supplement, released a book, and had his own clothing line. I was shocked and saddened by his death because he was a great inspiration and it is such a waste of talent. He left us too young.

Zyzz started out training to impress people, but his views changed and he said;
  "I can safely say that my motivation to train goes far beyond that of merely impressing people, it is derived from the feeling of having set goals and achieving them and outdoing myself in the gym"

This quote is exactly how you feel in the gym. Always having a goal to change your body and always pushing yourself every second you're in there. He was a great inspiration and will be missed by us all.
